Stitching California is most recent quilt exhibit from the SAQA Northern California/Northern Nevada region. I wrote a bit about the exhibit yesterday. I thought I’d share a bit more about my involvement with this organization which is a part of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA).
My longstanding interest in art quilts and fiber arts lead me to participate in a couple quilt guilds, classes, and organizations promoting the art quilt.
Through my involvement with SAQA and my region, I’ve had the opportunity to show my quilts and attend conferences in Philadelphia, Denver, Portland, and San Jose while learning about various aspects of the art world. This has helped me with my professional development. I’d say some of the most exciting aspects is the opportunity to participate in exhibitions and meet with other artists. It is energizing and motivating to meet with more experienced artists willing to share their experience and expertise with others.
Recently, I was looking for a way to be more involved and volunteered to create and maintain the website for the NorCal/NV region. If you have an interest in art quilts, fiber art, or quilting, check out the website at saqanorcalnv.com.
