I took an improv quilt workshop with Cindy Grisdela at a zoom SF Quilt Guild Workshop in Nov 2022. I chose a split compliment color palette. I started by making angled stripes.

I wasn’t sure of my color choices when I saw that they looked something out of an insane circus.
But as I made some curved and log cabin improv blocks, I saw that this combination of colors could work.

I kept making more blocks and trying different arrangements. . .
. . . until I had enough blocks and kept trying different combinations of block placement.
Sewing them together was a challenge since no 2 blocks were the same size.

Thanks. I had a lot of fun exploring possibilities with this quilt.
Looks like you had a lot of fun with this split color combo. Great job here. What size is this?
I think adjusting the proportions to have more orange/green and less violet created a good balance. Quilt size is 43″ x 34 1/2″.
